One Giant Leap for TiB

Thinking it Better are delighted to announce the appointment of new MD for UK and Europe, Mel Greaves. The self confessed space fanatic comes with experience unrivalled in the industry. His ability, knowledge and personality will be a huge asset for the company and his signature is a major coup and further demonstration of the company’s commitment to growth.

Mel, formerly of Rolls Royce started his role with TiB in January 2020 and is tasked with developing the brand both in the United Kingdom and across the Globe.  He has more than 32 years experience working in the aerospace industry in a variety of technical, operational, strategic and programme management roles.  He has spent time working in Canada, USA, Germany, Singapore and Malaysia as well as the UK, and has broad experience of how different cultures bring their own unique contributions.  He has a deeply held passion for identifying and removing those things that stop us from being the best we can be.

Mel has always been a fan of Richard Branson and others like him who are both entrepreneurial in spirit but who never lose sight of their wider purpose in life.  Though he sights his real hero as Gene Kranz – Flight Director at NASA during the most incredible era of human exploration and a cool head in times of extreme pressure – his resilience was extraordinary.  “I remember watching the moon landing in 1969 (yes I really am that old) and it has stamped an obsession on me for space exploration.  So I don’t get too far into any facilitated event before a space analogy comes tumbling out!”

So other than Space, his family and making a difference in people’s live, what else is Mel passionate about? “I’m a Rugby Union RFU Level 2 Youth Coach.  I love bread making for some reason, and motorsport, and yes, vintage excavating equipment.”

Mel has known and worked with Group CEO, Ian M Travers, for over 20 years and they always resonated on a collective outlook on life. Mel said, “It’s going to be brilliant to be working together.  My passion for helping people to find their best selves has always been with me and to be able to step into a project which seeks to do just that, is going to be tremendously energising.  I feel like a springer spaniel waiting for a good walk!”

Ian added, “It is a major coup for our organisation to bring in someone with such natural talents and excellent experience. We believe, together with what we are currently developing in the United States, this move will push the company forward like never before!”
