In Ally’s Own Words

I have been a Senior Human Resources Leader for well over 20 years working in a range of global roles across a range of organisations and sectors.   During that 20+ years I have accumulated vast experience and understanding of what makes individuals, teams and organisations tick and perhaps most importantly, what enables them to be at their best.

My HR career started in a number of generalist HR Business Partner roles before evolving towards a more specialist Employee Relations focus .  I worked very closely with Trade Unions and other employee representative groups and it was here that I fully realised the power of trust and a shared sense of purpose and how even in the midst of some of the biggest challenges imaginable these two things could remove barriers and enable huge progress.  It was also here that I first developed a coaching style that has continued to evolve ever since – curious and supportive but also challenging and direct –  and always with a goal of reaching the best possible outcome.

Over time my focus became less focused on Employee Relations and evolved towards Employee Engagement and Organisational Development.  I’ve led significant organisational change programmes focusing on structure, culture, employee engagement strategy and communication which have resulted in significantly improved performance, employee engagement and cost effectiveness.  Over five years I also led a significant culture change programme (High Performance Culture) across the Civil Aerospace sector of Rolls-Royce plc.  The programme fundamentally changed the culture of the business with a series of behavioural concepts helping to create improved collaboration and accountability, which in turn led to a dramatic improvement in business performance.

I’m a Member of the International Coaching Federation and also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Finally, it’s also worth saying a bit about me that isn’t work related because I know that some people are interested in that too.  I’m married to an amazing wife and I have two daughters that I’m massively proud of.  I often indulge in my own form of mindfulness (known to some as golf – or perhaps more accurately something remotely resembling it!).   I’m also a big football/soccer fan and on home match days will typically be found in my seat at Pride Park in Derby, England where I live.
